Translation of the Book

After I read this book I decided, toghether with my friend Dragos Acostachioaie, that we have to translate this book into Romanian, and to spread the idea of free software, of comunity, and especially the idea of freedoom.

In order to begin to work, we contacted O'Reilly & Associates and we negociated an agreement that gave us the permission to translate this book. Read bellow the content of this agreement.

Anyone which is interested in participating on this project is invited to join us. This project is a free one and all person invloved participate on a volunteer basis. Here is the content of the agreement signed with O'Reilly & Associates


Translate the book: Open Sources: Voices from the Open Source Revolution, 1st edition, only, into Romanian for the sole purpose of making it freely available on the Internet. You are participating in this project on a volunteer basis and will receive no payment for your translation services.

The translation shall be made faithfully and accurately, shall be of good literary quality, and shall consist of the whole of the textual, pictorial, diagrammatic material, and software constituting the Work, without alteration, abridgment, or supplement, except with the express written permission of O'Reilly. O'Reilly reserves the right to approve the final manuscript before its publication. Radu Filip will submit the final manuscript to O'Reilly for review. Further, Radu Filip will submit the translated version of the individual essay: The GNU Operating System and the Free Software Movement to its author and copyright owner, Richard Stallman, for review and approval. Any comments will be forwarded to Radu Filip and required modifications must be made to the manuscript before the Translation is published. O'Reilly shall forward modifications of the translation within a reasonable time period.

The cover shall include both O'Reilly's name and each co-author name, and cover art and design shall have an appearance that will make the Translation recognizable as a derivative of the Work. Radu Filip must obtain written approval from O'Reilly of the final cover of the Translation before its publication.

Radu Filip shall also include any other notice required by the applicable copyright laws for the full protection of the Translation including the copyright notices of individual author essays. Radu Filip will cite the notice of the GNU General Public License and include the GNU General Public License in the Work as Appendix B.
